Weekly News Recap for the week of November 2, 2007
Hello and welcome to your weekly update and recap a day early, why I am in a tournament on Gamespot for the Resistance game and may not be able to do this tomorrow so here it is a day early but not a buck short.

PSP Firmware v3.72 Available

A new firmware update is available for the PSP. Version 3.72 doesn't seem to add much functionality, other than expanding support for PlayStation Network titles. All in all, a pretty lackluster update - those without a PS3 needn't even bother. Sure, Sony could have snuck in some extra secret stuff, but we're betting not. If you want it, however, go and get it. A PS3 update is expected soon and PSP v3.72 does lend credence to that theory. We're remaining cautious, however. We'll let you know more as it happens.

Resistance fall of Man:

-Dual Shock 3 support added for online AND single player.
-Password protected custom games.
-Numerous bug fixes.

WarHawk Patch v1.1 is released

Just wanted to make a quick post to let everyone know that the Warhawk v1.1 patch will be deployed world-wide on Friday, November 2nd, during an extended maintenance window between 5am and 9am Pacific. Some of you were able to download the v1.1 patch before it was officially ready. Since this occurred without the server-side updates to complement it, not all of the fixes would have functioned. Specifically, the viral-rank-up fix and the time-in-vehicle stat fix. Once we bring the system back online Friday, 9am Pacific, these fixes will be functional. Also, once we deploy the patch, when you boot Warhawk, you will be prompted by the XMB to download the v1.1 patch. This is a fast download so its not a time killer. Once the XMB has pulled the patch down, Warhawk will boot back up and be happy! You will also notice a v1.1 in the lower right corner of the screen.

Uncut Manhunt 2 surfacing on hacked PSPs

The game finally saw a North American release yesterday, and by the end of the day, hackers had already discovered and posted online a way to undo at least some of Take-Two's edits to the game. Given the change in ratings, this raised the question of whether Take-Two's resubmission of Manhunt 2 to the Entertainment Software Rating Board included all of the same violence and objectionable content that originally earned it the more restrictive AO rating. Well a few lucky souls have found a way to undo the code that edits the version so you too can play it in an uncut format, but only on hacked PSPs of course. If you picked up a copy you know by now what the entire buzz was about turned out to be a bust, and now that the game supports some kind of blur, most of the executions in the game cannot be seen to well in fact most of the blood and gore is hidden by a filter unlike the original were you could view the execution, this time around its more or less a pain to the eyes. My full review for this game is coming soon to both Gamespot and 1up.com soon. For a quick video of what the difference is check out this video at GameVideos LINK for it to see what the difference is between the original Manhunt and the Retail and uncut version of Manhunt 2.

Folding@home is now in Guinness

Since being integrated into Stanford University's disease-researching Folding@home Project in March, Sony claims that more than 670,000 PS3 users have added their consoles' brunt to the altruistic cause. With that many high-tech Cell processors working toward a common effort, it comes as no surprise that Sony has pushed Folding@home to a Guinness World Record for creating the world's most powerful distributed computing network. On September 16, the Folding@home network officially set the record by logging one petaflop, or 1 quadrillion floating point operations per second. The network as a whole draws processing power from idling PS3s and PCs from around the world to perform computations that study protein folding. As Sonys console currently drives three-quarters of the network's power, that mark was reached by PS3 users without the help of PCs on September 23. So give yourself a hand for folding so much over a short amount time everybody, I know I have been busy playing games but for the rest of you were united a bigger cause and for that its truly a great moment.

Playstation Store Updates

Well after a quite week, they have released some better content this week, with a lot more coming next week I am told. You have two big demos that were released this week Timeshift and Need for Speed: Prostreet have both been released so check them out. A classic PS one games hit the PS store I will only say this Sweet Tooth, I think you know now price tag $5.99. Along with downloadable content for Godfather the Dons edition along with some new game videos and Blu-ray movie trailers too.

MGS4 delayed and Kane & Lynch is gold already

Well yes its been delayed until second quarter of 2008, with some people claiming that the game may not be released until next Christmas I hope that is not true I really hope its not indeed. But on the flip side you will be seeing a MGS online shortly, one of my closet informants tells me that the English version is coming along good and maybe released around Christmas time but he warns its still just a rumor for now. Well yes Kane and Lynch has gone gold and will launch a whole week before the other big hits come out, we all know now that November is going to be a killer month for games.

Well that has been your update for this week, if I forgot something I am sorry but for the most part that is the headline news for the week of November 2, 2007.

@p3lon: I hear that! The only solace is that I will still probably be going through my xmas games with the massive amount that are coming out .. i think rumble in america is partially to blame here.
